By Sally A. Altea

The Presidential Manage- ment Staff (PMS) has inaugurated its new Southern Luzon Sub-Central Office Building in the province of Albay on June 27.

The new building is located at the Regional Equipment Services compound of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Region 5 in Legazpi City.

The building’s modern design is its honeycomb framing design, reminiscent of the local buri or rattan baskets, which were installed not only for aesthetic purposes but also for structural durability.

“This building shall pave way for the government to better serve and reach the Filipino people at the grassroots level through enhanced public service continuity and inter-agency partnerships in the delivery and implementation of various programs of the government, most especially in times of emergencies and disasters,” DPWH Bicol Director Virgilio C. Eduarte said.

Eduarte said the smart and new-normal ready three – storey building was conceptualized and designed by the DPWH Albay 2nd District Engineering Office (DEO).

The inauguration ceremony was led by acting PMS chief, Usec. Ferdinand B. Cui Jr and other DPWH officials, namely:Usec. Roberto R. Bernardo; Asec Antonio V. Molano Jr; and Eduarte.

Also at the ceremony were DPWH Albay 2nd DEO District Engineer Warren B. Azotea and OIC-Assistant District Engineer Leopoldo A. Barela, Jr., along with guests and staff from the PMS Central Office. (PIA5/Albay/DSWD5)
