BOMBON, Camarines Sur — A man suspected of stealing a motorcycle parked in front of a residence was arrested hours later after being identified through CCTV footage and caught riding the stolen vehicle.

At around 5:30 AM on June 12, 2025, a black Suzuki Smash motorcycle with plate number E342FU was reported missing by the owner, alias “Wowie,” a 28-year-old single resident of Zone 5, Barangay San Jose, Bombon, Camarines Sur.

The motorcycle was allegedly left unattended outside his house.

Responding promptly to the report, personnel of the Bombon Municipal Police Station launched an investigation and reviewed CCTV footage from the vicinity to identify the suspect.

By 2:35 PM on the same day, a follow-up investigation and hot pursuit operation led by Police Captain Sta. Cruz Jr., Chief of Police, together with the victim, resulted in the arrest of the suspect, known by the alias “Johnson,” 29, jobless, and a resident of Pasacao, Camarines Sur.

He was intercepted while driving the stolen motorcycle along the Maharlika Highway in Barangay San Isidro, Magarao, Camarines Sur.

The victim positively identified the motorcycle as his, although the license plate had already been removed. During a body search conducted as part of the arrest, officers recovered the detached license plate tucked into the back of the suspect’s shorts, along with a screwdriver.

A charge of carnapping has been filed against the suspect under Republic Act No. 10883, also known as the Anti-Carnapping Act of 2016.
