Just A Step Away

We write this column tonight (Wednesday February 10) as we look forward to a three-day non-working holiday starting Friday February 12 which is Chinese New Year, until Valentine’s Day on February 14. I am sure that resto-bars in Naga City like the Primus Restaurant in Pacol and other similar establishments will be filled with customers. Hence, we feel it timely to remind our Valentine’s Day celebrants to observe the social distancing protocols to prevent the spread of the pandemic. Kung Hei Fat Choi and Happy Valentines to all.

Contrary to the advocacy of some local politicians urging Vice-President Leni Robredo to run for governor in the Province of Camarines Sur, this column supports the petition dubbed as “I AM READY FOR LENI” posted by Robredo’s supporters on global petition platform Chang.Org, which as per print and broadcast media reports has already gathered 2,161 signatures in its Wednesday morning update last week. To this writer, it is high time that we elect a President of this country from Bicol. After all, Vice-President Robredo is deserving and capable, active as she has been in her capacity as Vice-President in addressing various social concerns, and the problems that beset the poor and destitute population of our country. Years back, we could have had the first Bicolano President in the person of former Senator Raul S. Roco were it not for his illness which cut short his political career. Now that VP Leni is only one step away from Malacanang, let’s give her 100% support.

Due to the existing pandemic the USI Alumni Homecoming will be held virtually for the first time on February 13 from 9:00 am via Facebook Live Streaming.

Likewise, the Real Estate Brokers Association of the Philippines (REBAP), Naga City and Camarines Sur Chapter, will be holding its 24th Chapter General Membership Meeting and Induction of Officers and New Members on February 20, 202l at 5:00 o’clock in the afternoon at La Piazza 1 & 2, The Avenue Convention Plaza, Magsaysay Avenue.
