LGU Naga awards SM with safety seal certification

By Zyra D. Ponce

The Naga City government has granted the SM City Naga with a safety seal certification after the latter fully complied with the city’s minimum health standards and protocols, which ensure safe malling experience for its customers.

The safety seal also covers the other mall tenants and their affiliates such as the SM store, SM Supermarket, SM Appliance, ACE hardware, Watsons and SM mall food occupants.

The awarding of the seal was attended by Mayor Nelson Legacion, SM Assistant Vice President for South Luzon Jason Terrenal, Regional Operations Manager Niko Alvarez, Mall Manager Jeannette de Vera and Assistant Mall Manager Vince Senora.

According to Terrenal, the safety seal certifies SM’s commitment to ensure safe malling experience by following the minimum health safety standards set by the government in managing the Covid-19 pandemic. He added that it aims to secure the safety and bring back the consumers confidence in SM for being the first safety seal certified establishment in Naga.

Terrenal said the mall’s safety officers ensure that customers follow social distancing and the health protocols inside SM.

He said that the safety seal certification will give the mall opportunities to increase the dining capacities of its food court.

Terrenal also said that SM malls nationwide tied up with the LGUs and Philippine Red Cross for saliva testing and have accommodated almost one million people who got vaccinated inside SM malls nationwide.

Meanwhile, Legacion thanked SM for offering its cinemas as vaccination sites and for helping the city in the implementation of measures to fight the pandemic.

Safety Seal Certification is a voluntary certification scheme, which affirms if a certain establishment is compliant with the minimum public health standards set by the government and uses or integrates its contact tracing with safetysafe.ph.
