LGU Tinambac thanks COA for 2020 audit report

By Jason B. Neola

TINAMBAC, Camarines Sur --- Mayor Ruel Brioso Tuy on Wednesday once again recognized the role of the Commission on Audit (COA) in ensuring that all transactions of the Local Government Unit of Tinambac (LGU-Tinambac) are in accordance with law as he expressed gratitude to the agency for being a reliable partner in development.

“Because of the regular audit reports, including the 2020 report, the local government is always reminded of its duty to be transparent,” said Tuy, as he reiterated his commitment to comply with all COA recommendations.

In its 2020 Audit Report, COA reminded LGU-Tinambac to clarify some of its disbursements, to provide legal documents to lands purchased by the municipality for the benefit of the poor, and to liquidate some cash advances.

Working hand in hand with COA Auditors, the local

government has been in the process of submitting documents to COA to justify all of its disbursements and cash advances even before the audit report was released. Auditors have found no anomalies or suspicious transactions.

At the same time, it is doubling its effort in making sure that all landless residents of the municipality can finally call their home lots their own.

Mayor Tuy said he already had instructed the Office of the Municipal Accountant to submit immediately all documents being requested by COA so that everything would be complied before the end of the year.

The COA regularly releases audit reports for all local government units every year. The reports contain observation and recommendation for provinces, cities, and municipalities.

This year it also issued audit reports for the Municipalities of Sagnay and Goa, among oth¬ers, which also request the said municipalities to explain some of their disbursements.

The Municipality of Goa for instance is being asked by COA to explain why 31 percent of its current liabilities representing some P66 million pesos had no supporting documents at the time they were recorded in the book of accounts.
