Lions Club extends support to Bicol’s ‘little warriors’

TWENTY-SEVEN children battling chronic illnesses and serious disorders, fondly called “Solid Bicol Warriors,” received Christmas gifts, food packs, and basic merchandise in Naga City on December 30, 2024.
The initiative was a collaborative effort spearheaded by the parents of the children and the Daet 103 Service Lions Club.
Dr. Eric V. Pabico, the club president, said that the commitment of his group to supporting the families of children with chronic illnesses tops the mission of Lions International: to help children with disabilities.
“We encourage parents not to lose hope despite the challenges they face. Until there is life, we must not give up—let us be happy and fight,” Pabico said.
The Daet 103 Service Lions Club, under Pabico’s leadership, has prioritized providing nutritional support, vitamins, and supplements, along with essential dental services such as check-ups, cleaning, fluoridization, and treatments. Pabico announced that the club’s dental services will be conducted in February 2025 in celebration of Dental Health Month.
The event last December in Naga was also graced by Lion Arnel Lagatuz, founding chairman of Daet 103 Service Lions Club, and past presidents Lion Ronnie Reyes and Lion Danilo Victoria.
Ginalyn Abordo Lis, president of the parents’ group and mother to a 10-year-old suffering from aplastic anemia, expressed gratitude for the unwavering support of civic organizations and philanthropic individuals.
“Event like this reminds us that we are not alone in our fight against the challenging health conditions of our little ones. The assistance we receive allows us to focus on our children’s medical needs,” she shared.
Lis further imparted how donations are spent effectively, with documentation showing how resources benefit the children directly. “Our sponsors feel joy knowing their contributions provide essential services and goods to these kids,” she added.
The 27 children who benefited from the December 30 initiative hail from six provinces across the Bicol Region.
The parents’ group, along with different organizations, has successfully conducted three events last December to bring joy and relief to the families of these young warriors, reinforcing the message of hope, unity, and compassion in the face of adversity.
The pre-New Year’s Day event underscored the enduring mission of the Lions International and other civic groups to bring light and hope to families going through difficult health challenges, ensuring that no one fights alone.
