LTFRB releases fuel subsidy for 3K PUVs

By Connie Calipay

The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board in Bicol (LTFRB-5) on Monday, May 16, said over 3,000 public utility jeepney (PUJ) operators in the region can now receive P6,500 worth of fuel subsidy from the government.

In an interview, lawyer Raymund Paolo Calleja, LTFRB-5 administrative assistant, said the funds are being distributed through a cash card provided by the Land Bank of the Philippines.

“As of today, we have 3,181 jeepney operators that can now avail of their Pantawid Pasada Program (PPP) cash cards,” Calleja said.

He reminded the beneficiaries that the cash card they received may only be used to purchase fuel.

“Beneficiaries were also reminded to be vigilant in reading the deed of undertaking they signed since some beneficiaries withdraw the money and used it for some other expenses, which is not allowed. The bank can trace the transactions they made, and it can be a ground to remove them as the beneficiary for other programs of our agency,” he said.

Calleja also said only accredited gasoline stations accept cash cards.

“For more info about the partner gasoline stations visit https://tinyurl.com/eckfud7a or look for gasoline stations that have PPP signage. The gasoline attendant will verify the plate number of PUJ that must match with the PPP card; the PPP card will be swiped to check the account balance; and will be swiped again for the payment of the gasoline purchase,” he said.

For operators who want to avail of the subsidy, they can visit LTFRB at the Regional Government Center, Rawis, Legazpi City during office hours. (PNA)
