Mary accompanies us in our Journey towards a Synodal Church.
In obedience to the request of Pope Francis, every Catholic parish community all over the world discerned this year on “what God is saying to all of us” and how the Church lives out her mission in the world. The process which is called the pre-synodal consultation is part of the Synod on Synodality. Usually, only leaders of the Church take part in synods. But with the above mentioned process, even the voices of ordinary members of the Church are heard and their contributions are considered. A Synodal Church, a church that is engaged in “authentic dialogue and mutual listening,” is envisioned by the Church today.
Through dialogue, two disciples discovered the living Jesus on the road to Emmaus and returned to share with others the joy of their experience (Luke 24:13-35). As followers of Jesus, let us journey towards a Synodal Church which involves awareness to be always in communion with God and with one another. Let us always be reminded of our participation in the mission of the Church to bring people to that communion. Let us promote the development of all sectors in our parishes that they may discover their charisms and serve through the different parish ministries. Let us continue to make people see their importance by allowing them to share what they have in mind and heart. Let us step forward for those who are in need; but also tap others when we need support.
Our Ina, “who once gave us Jesus, the fount of heavenly grace, cannot fail to offer her maternal help to the Church” (Pope Saint Paul VI). She accompanies us in our journey towards a Synodal Church. Our mother, Mary, is our model in listening to the Lord. She listens to our prayers. With her, may we always be inspired to listen to God and to one another and to share the joy of belongingness to the family of God.
