A forum aimed at gathering solutions from different stakeholders for the burgeoning traffic problems in the city was conducted last Wednesday, August 28. It was conducted in collaboration with the Naga City Police Office (NCPO), the Public Safety Office (PSO) of the Naga city government, and the district office of the Land Transportation Office (LTO).
Joining the forum as resource persons were City Councilor Melvin Ramon Buenafe, who heads the committee on transport, and the committee on peace and order, public safety, and disaster management at the Sangguniang Panlungsod.
Melvin Del Puerto, president of ManCave Philippines, said that the objective of the event was to address the worsening traffic conditions in the city and to develop effective and comprehensive solutions to the problem. It was the ManCave Phl in the city that organized the event.
The forum, which was open to the public, was expected to yield significant outcomes. The expectation was bolstered by the participation of personnel from the Traffic Enforcement Unit of the NCPO, headed by Police Lt. Col. Van Layosa, and the Traffic Management Division of the PSO, led by Public Safety Officer Arnulfo Fausto.
Also participating in the forum were Police Col. Erwin Rebellon, the city director of the NCPO, and Executive Director Renne Gumba of the PSO. In addition, Grace Rojas, the chief of the LTO district office in the city, was in attendance.
The forum’s opening segment featured a video presentation by Greg Diaz, a medical doctor, who provided an overview of the city’s traffic problems. Diaz is the chairman of ManCave’s committee on traffic concerns.
The open forum, facilitated by host Antonette Eduardo, followed the presentations of the resource persons.
Del Puerto mentioned that the forum would conclude with the completion of a resolution, which will be submitted to Mayor Nelson Legacion and the ManCave’s Board of Trustees, headed by its chairman, Dr. Ronnie Ursua.
The forum, conducted in collaboration with the Integrated Bar of the Philippines Camarines Sur Chapter, Kapisanan ng mga Brodkaster ng Pilipinas Camarines Sur, the Philippine Institute of Civil Engineers in Naga City, and the Rotary Club of Naga, was held at the Conference Hall of the IBP Building in the City Hall Compound.
