Media gathers for Lenten recollection

By Myrna Bermudo

Media practitioners gather for their traditional Lenten recollection on March 20 this year. The yearly gathering is organized by the Caceres Commission on Communications (CCCom), the media office of the Archdiocese of Caceres.

Said event will be held at the covered court of Highway 411, Tinangkihan, Libmanan, Camarines Sur.

Due to the nationwide lockdown, last year’s recollection for media practitioners was cancelled.

Invitation has been sent to all media practioners for the 2021 Media Recollection. It includes an invitation to observe health protocols during the recollection: wearing of face mask, washing of hands with alcohol or sanitizers and practice of physical distancing.

Fr. Gerome Pelagio, director of the Archdiocesan Office for Mission and Evangelization will be the speaker on “Gifted to Give,” the theme of the celebration of the 500th year of Christianity in the Philippines.

The yearly Lenten recollection include a talk, praying of the stations of the cross, sacrament of reconciliation or consultation for those who want to avail, and celebration of the Holy Eucharist.

“This yearly recollection is the gift of the local Church to our friends in media, our longtime partners in communicating the human and gospel values. They are also our frontliners in this time of pandemic-induced crisis since they risk their health in gathering and relaying news. It is also an occasion to connect with God in prayer, renew commitment to share the faith received and celebrate the Eucharist as one media community, “says Fr. Louie Occiano, CCCom director.
