Dear brothers and sisters in Christ, especially our dear digital missionaries,
Peace be with you.
We celebrate World Communications Sunday 2026 under the theme “Preserving Human Voices and Faces.”
Thank you, dear Social Communications Ministers, for your dedication and generosity in serving the Church through media and digital communications. Your humble service is a hopeful reminder that evangelization continues to find new pathways in every generation.
In our time, communication has become more instant and constant. Messages travel quickly, content multiplies endlessly, and technology continues to evolve at a rapid pace. Yet in the midst of all these developments, the Church gently reminds us of something essential: we must never lose the human person behind the screen.
Behind every profile is a face.
Behind every account is a story.
Behind every post, reaction, silence, or cry for attention is a human heart longing to be seen, heard, understood, and loved.
This is why your mission is important.
As Catholic communicators, you are called not merely to produce content, but to foster encounter. Not simply to gain attention, but to lead others toward truth, goodness, compassion, and ultimately, toward Christ Himself.
Today, the digital world can easily become a place of noise, anger, division, and misinformation. But it can also become a place of hope, kindness, dialogue, and healing. Through your words, your creativity, your integrity, and your witness, you help shape what kind of digital culture people encounter each day.
And perhaps this is what we must always remember: God did not simply send a message. He sent Himself. In Jesus, God entered human history personally—with presence, compassion, listening, and love. Christ did not communicate from a distance. He encountered people face to face. He called them by name. He walked with them.
May we do the same in today’s digital continent.
And so may we always remember:
Digital Service. People Always.
May technology always remain at the service of human dignity.
May our platforms become spaces of truth and charity.
And may our communication always reflect not only our skills, but the face of Christ.
Thank you for offering your talents in service of the Church. Thank you for choosing to become missionaries in today’s digital continent.
May the Lord continue to bless your mission. May Our Lady guide and protect you always, and may Saint Gabriel the Archangel intercede for all communicators.
Maraming salamat po, and God bless you all.
Most Rev. Rex Andrew C. Alarcon, D.D.
Archbishop of Caceres
