The Sangguniang Panlalawigan of Camarines Sur awarded commendation during their 92nd Regular Session on July 7, 2021 to Governor Miguel Luis “Migz” Villafuerte and Congressman Luis Raymund “Lray” Villafuerte Jr., along with the administrators of the provincially-managed colleges Doctor Maricel Peñero of Baao Community College, Engineer Ramon Salvador Agawa of Governor Mariano Villafuerte Community College-Garchitorena, Mr. Rodrigo Ramir Francisco of GMVCC-Libmanan, Engineer Roemil Ondis of GMVCC-Siruma, and the overall focal person of community colleges, Joseph Roe Ondis, for their efforts and support in the furtherance of the public tertiary education in the province.

The abovementioned community colleges are among the awardees of the institutionalized recognition of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), Gawad Parangal, on May 6, 2021 at Daraga, Albay.

“We are planning to continue and build more colleges to employ more teachers, provide opportunities, but more importantly to provide quality education,” said Congressman Lray Villafuerte during the awarding of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan. He also implored for the support of the legislative body as they are already planning to put up community colleges in the municipalities of Buhi, Bato, Bula, Del Gallego, Sipocot, and the coastal barangay of San Fernando.

Being the only local government unit in the country to have and run the most numbers of community colleges, Governor Migz Villafuerte pledged to be more and do more for the youth of Camarines Sur and the future of the Philippines.
