MNCCI president denies ‘mediamen useless’ claim

By Paulo DS. Papa

The Metro Naga Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MNCCI) recognized the important role of the media in economic healing, contrary to the alleged statement attributed to its president that newsmen are useless in terms of business recovery in Naga City.

Engr. Armando Aman, MNCCI president, in a press conference held on Aug. 6 at Avenue Plaza Hotel, categorically denied making that statement.

He said that last year, the MNCCI did not invite mediamen to the launching of the Bicol Business Month 2020 because the activity was held online.

Aman said he was asked by a certain media practitioner to confirm if he indeed made the statement that the media is useless and not an important factor in economic recovery amidst the pandemic.

“I denied the claim because I don’t have any right to say such words against our media friends”, he said.

He added that the partnership of the government, private sector and the media is a good combination to promote economic recovery and activities despite the Covid-19 pandemic and the present quarantine status of the city.

The MNCCI announced the conduct of the Bicol Business Month 2021 in September with the theme “Towards… The Great Reset” featuring products and services of Bicol, which will be held at Robinson’s Place, Naga City.

Agricultural products, in partnership with the Department of Agriculture, will be exhibited by the Agribusiness Support for Promotion and Investment in Regional Expo on Sept.10-12.

The Best of Bicol Trade Exhibit will showcase Bicolano products and services on Sept. 14-19 and Real Estate and Construction Expo will be on Sept. 22-26.
