MNWD extends acting GM’s secondment up to end of ‘23

By Jason B. Neola

METRO PESO General Manager Florencio Tam Mongoso Jr. will continue to perform his duties as acting general manager of the Metro Naga Water District (MNWD) until the end of next year.

That is after the directors of the water district passed a board resolution requesting the city government of Naga to extend Mongoso’s secondment from January 1 to December 31, 2023. The request for extension was made due to the expiration this month of the secondment contract entered into by and between Mongoso, the LGU and the MNWD.

Secondment is the assignment of a member of one organisation to another organisation for a temporary period.

The request was acted upon by the Sangguniang Panlungsod by adopting a resolution authorizing Mayor Nelson Legacion to renew the contract for such purpose.

The acting general manager, who has been with the water district since August, this year, took over the reins of the MNWD to spearhead troubleshooting efforts to save the company from developing more losses.

In a board meeting conducted on Tuesday, December 27, the directors ratified and confirmed Mongoso’s extension for another year as acting general manager of the water district, a government owned and controlled corporation.

A thorough evaluation by the board on Mongoso’s performance and consultation with stakeholders has made it to decide to retain him in his post. The board even described his supposed bowing out of office this month as “premature” since there are more interventions and approaches that need to be implemented.

Mongoso, however, said that “at any time of the period, the one-year extension could be pre-terminate as soon as we have accomplished the things we have to finish.”
