More Covid-19 vax arrived for Bicol

Another batch of Covid-19 vaccines composed of 62,640 vials of British- made Astra Zeneca and China-made Sinovac arrived before noon on Wednesday, May 12 at the Legazpi Domestic Airport, the Department of Health (DOH) in Bicol said.
Noemi Bron, DOH public affairs chief, said the new vaccine arrival is intended to inoculate the second jabs for medical frontliners, and first dose to senior citizens.
The latest vaccine arrival was the fourth batch vaccines, manufactured by the Beijing-based Sinovac Biotech Ltd., and the second batch from Astra Zeneca, arrived on board a Cebu Pacific commercial flight from Manila at 11:00 AM.
The vaccines were immediately brought to the DOH storage facility in this city for inventory and distribution to the six Bicol provinces said, Bron.
DOH data indicate that the new arrival brings to 192,340 the vaccines that were allocated for the region for the first to third level priority.
As of the latest count, the region has administered 62,153 doses. Priority individuals numbering 54,630 got their first dose while 7,523 had their second dose. They are composed of frontline health workers, senior citizens and uniformed personnel.
Meanwhile, Bicol has logged 146 new Covid-19 cases as of press time.
The new cases bring to 2,471 active cases as of May 11 with six recorded deaths and 65 recoveries, the DOH bulletin said.
DOH tracker indicated that Bicol has 9,136 cumulative cases since March last year, with 6,072 recoveries and 323 deaths.
