Naga Cares medical services in villages continue

By Jeena Ansano and Noreen Alegre

RESIDENTS from Barangay Balatas flocked to the Balatas Development Complex for the Naga Cares: Medical Outreach for Indigent Patients on Tuesday, February 20, 2024.

Balatas is one of the city’s 27 barangays where the medical services are to be undertaken.

The medical outreach is an initiative of the local government of Naga with the help of Ako Bikol Partylist through the funds amounting to P110-M from the Medical Assistance for Indigent Patients (MAIP) Program.

Dr. Jennette Ruin, a medical doctor from the City Health Office, spearheaded the conduct of the program and collaborated with other government agencies such as PhilHealth and the Revitalized-Pulis sa Barangay (RPSB).

The objective of the program is to provide free medical services such as consultation, dental, minor surgical operations, laboratory, and free medicines to all residents of Naga.

Dolores Senosin, 63, and a resident of Zone 5, is one of those who went to the location to avail the services. According to Senosin, the program is a big help for her, as she does not have the financial means to have a consultation for her feet’s condition.

Meanwhile, Cynthia Morales, 23, and a resident of Zone 7, wants to avail gynaecological services. Morales is grateful for the program as she does not have the budget for a private consultation, which costs at least P15,000.

“Salamat po sa LGU Naga asin sa AKO Bicol Partylist ta dakulang tabang ini samuya lalo na ngunyan na mahal po an mga bakalon,” she said.

The second tranche of the program commenced on February 6 in Barangay Peñafrancia followed by Barangay Dinaga, San Francisco, Lerma, and Sta. Cruz.

Aside from barangays, it also catered to different sectors in the community such as the Naga Market Stallholders Federation (NAMASFED), local artists, and media practitioners.

It will still roll out to four other locations before it ends on February 24.
