Police authorities in the city remain on heightened alert following several incidents from December up to the present, a few days after a series of heavy rains brought by Tropical Storm Ada.

Police Capt. Daisy Angeles, spokesperson of the Naga City Police Office, said the current police alert status across the Bicol Region has not yet been lifted.

She emphasized that due to the continuing volcanic activity of Mayon Volcano in Albay, the Police Regional Office in Bicol has ordered units to remain on standby for further instructions as Albayanos continue to face potential threats.

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) has already raised Alert Level 3 over Mayon Volcano, indicating the possibility of a hazardous eruption. As a result, 392 families, or 1,593 individuals, have been evacuated from their homes located within identified danger zones.

Angeles added that the Naga City Police Command is prepared to deploy up to 200 police personnel to Albay once augmentation is requested by the regional command.

Meanwhile, the Albay Police Provincial Office has already deployed 250 personnel to evacuation centers and danger zones surrounding Mayon Volcano. These areas include the towns of Camalig, Daraga, Guinobatan, Malilipot, Santo Domingo, and Legazpi City.
