Naga police nab 6 drug suspects; Four died in road crashes

Policemen arrested six illegal drug suspects and seized over P122,000 worth of shabu (crystal meth) during an anti-drug operation on Sunday, Sept. 5 in Naga City, a police report said.


Police operatives serving a search warrant arrested at around 8:15 PM at their residence Danilo Julia, 46, his wife Jessica, 42, their 17 year old son, and Allan, 35, brother of Danilo, all of Barangay Tabuco. According to Master Sergeant Tobias Bongon, Naga City spokesperson, the other arrested suspects, tagged as drug den visitors, were Charlie Chavez, 48, and Garry Rodriguez, 45.


The search yielded 18 plastic sachets of shabu weighing 18 grams.


The suspects who did not resist arrest were brought to the Philippine Drug Enforcement Authority (PDEA) custodial facility, while awaiting for the filing of charges for possession, selling of illegal drugs, and operating a drug den under the Comprehensive Dangerous Drug Act of 2002.


Meanwhile, Four persons were killed on Sunday night and at dawn on Monday ( Sept. 5-6) in separate road crashes in Camarines Sur and Sorsogon provinces.


In Juban town in Sorsogon, a motorcycle rammed a 10-wheeler truck in Barangay Poblacion at around 10:30 PM on Sept. 6 killing on the spot the still unidentified motorcycle driver and his back rider, according to Major Maria Luisa Calubaquib, Police Bicol spokesperson.


The report said the speeding motorcycle took the lane of the truck with Plate No. CBJ 7189 that led to a head-on collision.


The victims were rushed to the town rural health unit but they were pronounced dead on arrival.


The truck driven by Willie Solomon, 36, of Bulan, Sorsogon, is under police custody. Solomon told the police that the truck was on its way to Cebu City from Metro Manila.


In Baao town in Camarines Sur, two people were killed on Sunday, Sept. 5 at dawn in a road crash between a van and a car along the Maharlika Highway in Barangay San Jose.


Calubaquib identified the victims as Joemar Ofong of San Isidro, Quezon City, the driver of the Toyota Hi-Ace Van and a passenger whose identity has yet to be released.


The report said the Toyota Inova, driven by Marlo Tacalan with Ely Bongay ss passenger, while negotiating the highway collided with the Toyota Hi-Ace Van (DAM 5737) loaded with nine passengers.


The crash led to the death Ofong and a still unidentified passenger, while the other passengers who sustained various injuries were taken to the nearby hospitals for treatment.
