New P350-M Naga City hospital breaks ground

A groundbreaking ceremony for the P350-million state-of-the-art New Naga City Hospital was conducted on Wednesday, Jan. 12, at the Balatas New Development Area (BNDA) in Barangay Balatas. A giant AutoCAD image of the hospital’s perspective was unveiled also during the same occasion.

The healthcare facility, a 200-bed capacity Level One hospital, that will rise at the new growth area established by the Naga City government in partnership with the private sector, will maintain a wide range of specialists and equipment.

Mayor Nelson Legacion announced during the ceremony that the project is also getting support from a world-class leisure destination in the country that features gaming thrills and entertainment and the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (Pagcor).

He acknowledged the private company and Pagcor Chairperson and CEO Andrea Domingo for the initial funding assistance of P100 million, which will be spent for the construction of the hospital’s phase 2.

Naga City resident who is a former government official supportive to the advocacies of the city’s Lideratong Nangangataman, Piglalaoman asin Pigsasarigan.

“Once completed, the new hospital will be a very significant feature in that area along with the Center for Safety and Resiliency (CeSaR), a unified command center to be manned by personnel of the Naga City Police Office, Bureau of Fire Protection, Public Safety Office, and the City Disaster Risk Reduction Office who are mandated to ensure the safety of and provide protection to city residents.

Aside from relieving the city’s congested area, the establishment of BNDA was undertaken to bring government’s services closer to the people.

The area, which can be reached via the 20-meter well-paved Balatas-Naga City Science High School Road, is also the site of the Balatas National High School, the construction of which is nearing completion, and the now operational Naga City Urban Agriculture Training and Demo Farm.
