NIA assures better irrigation service, farmer empowerment
The National Irrigation Administration (NIA) chief assures unity and development towards farmers in the Bicol region in the recent Federation of Irrigators Associations (IA) Congress in Bicol held Tuesday, Nov.15 at Villa Caceres Hotel, here.
In his speech, NIA Chief Benny Antiporda said that as per President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos, Jr.’s directive, the government will continue to fulfill the needs of the farmers and address their concerns on the issues regarding irrigation systems.
The Confederation of Irrigation Systems Association of Bicol officers representing different associations in the region participated in the said congress with the theme, “NIA at magsasaka, patuloy ang pagdaloy sa pag unlad at pagkakaisa.”
Antiporda also graced the turnover of NIA Region 5 leadership from its former Regional Manager Lauro Ballesteros to Engineer Roberto Dela Cruz from NIA Region 3.
In his visit in the region, Antiporda also headed the inspection of the Agos Dam, the installation of the solar pump and the construction of the pump house in Sampaloc Pump Irrigation System in Gainza, Camarines Sur.
Department of Agriculture (DA) Bicol Director Rodel Tornilla also discussed their programs and thrusts for the irrigators in the said event. (PIA5/Camarines Sur)
