Night market up in town’s foundation anniversary

By Sonny Malate

GARCHITORENA, Camarines Sur --- Inspired by the outcomes of the night market it put up last Christmas, the local government unit here decided to run the same project last March 1-7, this year, in time for the town’s foundation anniversary.

As one of the LGU’s major activities, the night market, which was established for the town’s 74th foundation anniversary, has triumphantly opened opportunities for growth on the part of the local entrepreneurs.

Anchored on the theme, “Fostering Unity, Discipline, and Resiliency towards a Progressive Garchitorena,” the celebration was described to be the most opportune time to showcase the town’s rich culture, tourism potentials, bright economic prospects, and initiatives to develop its human resource.

Set up in front of the municipal building in Barangay 4, the night market emerged to be a colorful and lively area for buyers, both locals and guests, including entrepreneurs who offered different items that are up for sale. The market also showcased products of cooperatives and businessmen from other places like handicrafts, food stuffs, and ready-to-wear clothes, home decors and accessories, and utensils.

Mayor Leda Simando San Luis vowed to propel her town’s growth to progress with the support of her co-workers in the municipal government, the private sector, and the constituency as defined in her battle cry, “Mauswag na Garchitorena, Pagtarabangan Ta!”

Under the town’s tourism plan, Mayor San Luis will spearhead the putting up of facilities to fire up the full potential of the town’s pristine beaches and islands as tourist destinations that will bring additional revenues to this peaceful coastal town.

Tourists who have been to other tourist destinations in Partido towns vouch for the beaches and islands of Garchitorena as equally attractive and captivating as those in Caramoan, Siruma, Presentacion and Sagñay.

Other events included in the week-long celebration were the Agricultural and Fishery Trade Fair, Awarding of Outstanding Professionals, Businessmen and Individuals in Charitable Works and other fields and Cultural Night.

Adding color and fun were the staging of Mutya ng Sisiran, Ms. Gay Sisiran, Mr. and Ms. Hot Bodies and Beer Plaza. Justice Harriet Demetriou and Atty. Amador L. Simando were honored as led the awardees as outstanding professionals.
