By Mar S. Arguelles

The New People’s Army (NPA) Romulo Jallores (RJC) and Jose Rapsing Commands (JRC) issued on Tuesday, June 8, a joint statement taking full responsibility for the mistake the NPA committed when it detonated a land mine that killed Far Eastern University football player Kieth Absolon and his cousin Nolven Absolon on Sunday.

Raymundo Buenfuerza, spokesperson of the NPA Romulo Jallores Command operating in Bicol, said “the NPA takes full responsibility for the errors it committed when it mounted an offensive against government forces that led to the death of Keith and his cousin Nolven.”

He said the offensive was never intended to hurt or harm civilians, “we ask for forgiveness to the family and the public. ”

“Buong pagpapakumbabang ipinapaabot ng RJC ang pakikidalamhati sa kapamilya’t komunidad na kinabibilangan ng magpinsang Keith Absalon at Nolven Absalon. Ang hindi sinasadyang pinsala sa buhay at kaligtasan ng sibilyan ay hindi kailanman wasto”.

The RJC and JRC assured that the Bagong Hukbong Bayan (BHB) in Bicol would conduct investigation for the mistake it has committed and from this mistake, it would strictly instill disciplinary action among the rebel fighters involved in the incident.
