The Office of the Civil Defense Bicol (OCD) has invited all Bicolanos to join the online conduct of first quarter nationwide simultaneous earthquake drill (NSED) on Thursday, Mar. 11 at 2:00 PM.
The drill aimed to prepare Bicolanos for a strong earthquake in the future. What is important, said Civil Defense Bicol Spokesperson Gremil Alexis Naz, is that everyone is prepared to respond properly.
Naz said that agencies and local government may participate with individual not exceeding twenty persons and shall only take place in their respective office, to observe minimum public health standards.

A livestream from Facebook page of Civil Defense PH will kick-off the NSED with a ceremonial pressing of the button.
For this quarter, Naz said that OCD targets youth, students, women, senior citizens and children to take part in earthquake drill proper. This aims to highlight the preparedness efforts for and by the basic sector to build more resilient communities.
On the other hand, the OCD Bicol being one of the leading agencies in logistics cluster of Bicol IATF, continues its coordination in the needs of the task force.
Naz said that if there is a need for choppers of bigger trucks especially in the transportation of the vaccines from the airport to local communities, OCD is ready to provide.
“We rest assured that our LGUs are well-trained. We are always ready to respond, contingency and continuity plans in case of a strong earthquake,” he added.
