Oliva leads Iriga opposition ticket

By Frank Penones

Incumbent Iriga City Vice Mayor Rex Oliva will vie for the mayoralty position in next year’s election as he formally filed on Wednesday, Oct. 6, his candidacy along with the other members of Team One Iriga.

Oliva, who started as a kagawad in his native barangay San Francisco and rose to become a long-time member of the Camarines Sur provincial board, underscored the need for change in the leadership of the city, which he said had remained a laggard among Bicol cities.

“Iriguenos deserve better governance, and Team One Iriga will provide that need for change,” he said.

Oliva will be joined by Edsel Dimaiwat, an incumbent city councilor, who will be running as vice mayor.

Completing the Team One Iriga roster for city councilors are: incumbent Sta. Teresita Punong Barangay Dandreb Nacario; Beth Idioma Bernales, the widow of the late provincial board member lawyer Marito Bernales; educator Jor-el Caayao; Pewee Gascon; incumbent city Councilor Boboy Guevara; former TV personality Nikki Lagrimas; Sta. Elena Punong Barangay Rudy Pungtan; businessman Clets Ravago; youth leader Rodolfo Jeff Tino; and environmental advocate Paula “Gigi” Vargas.
