By Danica Caballero

LEGAZPI CITY---In celebration of the 121st Labor Day, over 8,000 vacancies are up for grab in Bicol region on May 1, 2023 at the Ayala Malls Legazpi, here.

The Department of Labor and Employment Region 5 (DOLE-5) will spearhead its annual Labor Day Job Fair with the theme, “Pabahay, Bilihing Abot-Presyo, Benepisyo ng Matatag na Trabaho Para sa Manggagawang Pilipino.”

“Marami pong bakanteng trabaho na i-ooffer ang aming mga naimbitahang employers po dito sa local at abroad. Mahigit 8,000 na bakanteng trabaho ang pwedeng applayan,” DOLE-5 spokesperson Johanna Vi Gasga said in a radio interview. (Our invited employers will offer many jobs here and in abroad. There are over 8,000 jobs available for application.)

DOLE-5 said that some of the vacancies for local employment include accounting clerk, production operators, engineers, cashiers, customer assistants, drivers, sales specialists, human resource staff, and more.

Meanwhile, vacant positions for overseas employment include nurses, caregivers, receptionists, waitresses, store helpers, beauticians, general cleaners, arista, welders, painters, barbers, office clerks cashiers, and more.

For a smoother application process, Gasga said applicants are advised to register via online at http://dolero5.com/jobfair/RegOnline.

“Inaabisuhan na sila ay mag register po via online para po pagdating sa venue wala na silang i-fill-out na form,” she said. (We advise them to register online so that they will no longer need to fill-out forms at the venue.)

Gasga added that aside from the job fair, other activities to honor Filipino workers – the Kadiwa ng Pangulo Para sa Manggagawa and the awarding of government assistance to workers– have been lined up by DOLE.

The Kadiwa ng Pangulo Para sa Manggagawa, which is in partnership with the Department of Agriculture and the Department of Trade and Industry, enables the farming community to sell goods directly to consumers without the trader-intermediaries, allowing them to reap higher profits while still offering quality products at an affordable price to consumers.

Gasga said that they will also hold the payout to beneficiaries of the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers Program, Special Program for Employment of Students, and Government Internship Program.

Other government agencies will also join a one-stop-shop of services for applicants, including the Philippine Statistics Authority’s birth and marriage certificates, the Bureau of Revenue’s TIN issuance, Social Security System’s advisory on social protection, Pag-IBIG’s advisory on housing, PhilHealth’s advisory on policies, issuance of NBI clearance, and DOLE-5 free legal assistance and career counseling.
