Over P6-M illegal drugs seized in weeklong ops in Bicol

LEGAZPI CITY --- More than PHP6.19 million worth of illegal drugs was seized during week-long police operations, the Police Regional Office in Bicol (PRO-5) reported on Monday.

PRO-5 Director Brig. Gen. Nestor Babagay Jr. said operatives carried out 36 anti-illegal drug operations from Oct. 6-12, resulting in the arrest of 44 suspects that include five high-value individuals and 39 street-level pushers.

A total of 910.73 grams of shabu and 5.50 grams of marijuana were confiscated during the operations.

The most significant operation was in Pili, Camarines Sur on Oct. 6 where 800 grams of shabu worth PHP5.4 million were seized.

Other operations resulted in PHP525,040 worth of illegal drugs in Camarines Sur; PHP125,564 in Albay; PHP56,603.20 in Camarines Norte; PHP30,770 in Naga City; PHP12,920 in Sorsogon; and PHP2,720 in Catanduanes. (PNA)
