P1.6-M narcotics seized, 22 suspects nabbed in Bicol region

LEGAZPI CITY --- The Police Regional Office in Bicol (PRO-5) has confiscated a total of over PHP1.6 million worth of illegal drugs during weeklong operations from April 14 to 20.
In a report on Monday, PRO-5 Director, Brig. Gen. Andrei Dizon, said they will continue to deliver on their commitment to maintaining peace and order across the Bicol Region.
In the weeklong campaign, a total of 21 anti-drug operations were conducted, leading to the arrest of 22 drug suspects.
“These efforts culminated in the confiscation of 37.243 grams of shabu and four grams of marijuana, with a standard drug price of PHP1.6 million,” Dizon said.
Camarines Sur province recorded the highest value of shabu seized with PHP1.37 million; followed by Masbate with PHP108,800; Albay with PHP68,680; Camarines Norte with PHP53,244; Naga City with PHP6,970; Sorsogon with PHP1,020; and Catanduanes with no reported seizure.
Dizon lauded the unwavering efforts of the operating units and emphasized that the campaign against illegal drugs remains a top priority.
He said that PRO-5 will continue to intensify its operations in coordination with local communities and stakeholders to eliminate the presence of illegal drugs in the region.
“These accomplishments show our consistent and determined pursuit of a safer and drug-free Bicol. With the help of our community partners and law enforcement units, we will sustain this momentum and ensure that our region remains peaceful and secure,” he said.
