Paskuhan Sa UNC 2023

In this year’s Paskuhan sa UNC, at the heart of the sweet summit of our Diamond Jubilee,

the glory belongs to God, now and forever.

A Warm Welcome on a Cold December Night

The University of Nueva Caceres family came together, happy and hopeful in embracing the spirit of Christ’s Birth in our Diamond Year, united in “Celebrating with Gratefulness and Hope”. Our dedicated University Officials, committed employees, proud alumni, supportive parents and families, and beloved students exhibited special solidarity for the most special occasion - the Ceremonial Lighting of the UNC Giant Christmas Tree and Tunnel of Lights during the Grand Opening of the Paskuhan sa UNC 2023, made possible by the efforts of the main man, the Dean of Student and Alumni Affairs, Prof. Kenjie Jimenea.

Heralding the Happiest Holidays

Christmas is the most wonderful time of the year. This is the season when all roads lead home. To jumpstart the Paskuhan sa UNC 2023, the different Academic Departments proudly paraded around the UNC campus donning their department attires and effects, chanting and cheering. This is a uniquely UNCean tradition of celebrating our school spirit, showcasing our collective pride, and demonstrating our strong unity.

Prayer Before Before the Ceremonial Lighting

Orchestrating the Paskuhan sa UNC 2023 is the beautiful UNCean way of rejoicing in the birth of God’s greatest gift to us – Jesus Christ - our Lord and Savior, the reason for the season, and the center of the celebration. As UNC lights up in love and steps up in celebration this Christmas time, our hearts overflow with thanksgiving to God Almighty.

Leading the blessed UNC community in the Special Thanksgiving Prayer before the Ceremonial Lighting of UNC Giant Christmas Tree and Tunnel of Lights was Fr. Danilo Imperial, the former Vice President for Academic Affairs and founder of Campus Ministry. For 25 years, Father Dan has been an esteemed pillar of UNC who captured UNC’s faith and devotion to the Lord when he penned the University Prayer.

Ceremonial Switching On of UNC Giant Christmas Tree and Tunnel of Lights

The historic December 7, 2023 Paskuhan sa UNC was a festive occasion of brightening up the Christmas time on the campus to welcome the coming of Jesus Christ - the Light of the world and Savior of humanity. For a mighty and moving moment, the University of Nueva Caceres community once more showcased the winning UNCean spirit and solidarity, as we lit up the UNC Giant Christmas Tree and Tunnel of lights, all in rejoicing over the coming of Jesus Christ. The beautiful fireworks display made the ceremonial lighting even more magical.

Spearheading the Ceremonial Lighting of UNC’s Giant Christmas Tree and Tunnel of Lights were our University President, Dr. Fay Lea Patria Lauraya; Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Romeo Sumayo Jr.; and Vice President for Administration and Auxillary Services, Engr. Leon Palmiano IV. The rest of the Leadership Team witnessed the event: Assistant Vice President for Human Resources and Talent Management, Prof. Divinagracia David; University Registrar, Dr. Felisa Sabaupan; OIC Vice President for Research, Extension, and Linkages, Engr. Christine Bautista; Assistant Vice President for Finance, Mr. Joseph Mendoza II; Director for Marketing, Prof. Ruby Bandola; and Dean of Student and Alumni Affairs, Prof. Kenjie Jimenea.

Through her message to the UNC community, our beloved President Fay spread the holiday cheer, shared the spirit of the season, and sparked the message of hope. The UNC Glee Club and UNC Band relished this time of togetherness during their marvelous performances.

Kindling the Kiri-kiti Festival

The Kiri-kiti Festival Street Dancing Competition and Parol Making Contest heightened the anticipation for the festivity. Members of the Board of Judges were Ms. Antonette Eduardo (chairperson), Ms. Mariza Belmonte, Ms. Joan Dela Trinidad, and Mr. Paulo Suzara, with the Lead Tabulator, Prof. Dan Broňosa. Capturing this festival were creative specialists Sir Junie Orante and Sir Christian Malagueno.
