Naga Mayor Nelson Legacion thanked President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. for responding quickly to the needs of Naga City and Camarines Sur, the areas most devastated by Severe Tropical Storm Kristine.

Legacion said the President’s visit on Saturday morning gave them hope that all their concerns, particularly regarding assistance, will be addressed swiftly.

“Dahil sa pagdating po niya ay mas lalong napabilis ‘yung tulong na binigay at ibibigay ng mga kinauukulang ahensiya (Because of his arrival, the help provided by the concerned agencies has been accelerated),” Legacion said.

He added that the concerns and needs of various local government units were relayed personally to the President.

“Na-ipaabot po natin sa pamahaalan nasyonal ‘yung actual na sitwasyon ng lungsod at dahil po sa pagbisita nya, ‘yung pinapaki-usap natin assistance mas lalong napadali (We have been able to convey to the national government the actual situation of the city and because of his presence, the assistance we are asking for will be delivered faster),” he said.

The 35,000 family food packs (FFPs) requested from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) have already begun to arrive.

“They delivered 3,000 FFPs, 8,000 have just arrived, and another 4,000 will arrive within the day. Tomorrow, 8,000 more food packs will arrive, and the following day another 7,000, completing the delivery in a short period,” he said.

Meanwhile, the mayor reported that of the 22 villages flooded, only seven remained underwater as of Saturday morning -- Mabolo, Sabang, Abella, Sta. Cruz, Bagumbayan, Tabuco, and Triangulo. PNA
