LEGAZPI CITY --- Anti-drug operatives seized 11 kilograms of suspected shabu worth around PHP74 million and arrested two individuals during an operation at Matnog Port in Sorsogon Saturday.

In a report, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-Bicol spokesperson Carlos Fernandez III identified the suspects as “Jam,” 34, from Manila, and “Sal,” 19, from Lanao del Sur.

“The suspects came from Metro Manila and were headed to the Visayas, although their exact destination remains unknown,” Fernandez said in an interview.

The suspects yielded 11 vacuum-sealed plastic packs marked “Very Good,” assorted drug paraphernalia, personal belongings, and a white pickup truck.

Fernandez said the operation stemmed from an intelligence report they received from the National Capital Region, with PDEA-Bicol providing monitoring, support and coordination.

The two suspects will be charged with violation of Section 5 (Transportation of Dangerous Drugs) of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act. (PNA)
