By Rosalita Manlangit

DAET, Camarines Norte (PIA) – Twenty-seven Public Information Officers (PIOs) of various government agencies joined the 9th information caravan in the municipality of San Lorenzo Ruiz, here on October 11. The activity was spearheaded by the Philippine Information Agency with support from the Camarines Norte Communicators Network (CNCN).

The caravan’s participants are the town’s barangay officials who were later organized into San Lorenzo Barangay Information Network.

CNCN President Rommel R. Pajarin, election officer and member of the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) speakers’ bureau said that the group aims to bring government programs and projects to the locality.

He also urged barangay officials to share the information they have learned to their community.

CNCN Convenor and PIA Camarines Norte Information Center Manager Rosalita Manlangit said that the ComNet group was organized to be PIA’s partner in information dissemination of government programs and projects.

She said that PIOs of agencies have expertise and knowledge in disseminating reliable information about its own agency programs to the public.

Vice Mayor Arnulfo Bacuno also said that the activity brought government programs at the grassroots level.

He said that there are a lot of projects allocated for them as discussed in the information caravan. These projects would be of help given that they are dependent to the national governments’ Internal Revenue Allotment (IRA).

Municipal Administrator Ace John B. de los Santos and Melchor P. Rada, Liga ng Mga Barangay President of San Lorenzo Ruiz both thanked participating government agencies in bringing government programs that would help their constituents.

Among the PIOs and Chiefs who joined the caravan are from the COMELEC, DICT, BIR, TESDA, NCIP, SSS, PhilFIDA, PhilHealth, Provincial Government of Camarines Norte through PIO/CAO/DWCN, PDEA, PCA, DENR, PNP, LTO, DSWD, BJMP, BSP, CANORECO, CNSC, NIA, PSA, RedCross, BFAR, DOST, BFP, DOH, and CSC.
