Pilar LGU granted ISO certification

By Cet Dematera

THE Pilar local government unit (LGU) in Sorsogon has passed the stringent quality management system (QMS) audit of its offices conducted by the international certifying body, TUV SUD Asia Pacific Group this year.

Pilar Mayor Carolyn Reyes said that the ISO (international standard organization)-certification that the local government received is a proof of their quality management and dedicated services to the public.

“This ISO-certification inspires us here in Pilar to give the public more efficient, enhanced and faster services,” Reyes said.

Reyes said the certification will last for three years, then could be re-applied thereafter.

“Anyway, this certification merely affirms our commitment to serve our constituents and the public without ifs and buts,” Reyes added.

The audit team checked if the quality of management system the town is implementing is at par with the international standards, she said.

The audited officials and offices include the mayor and the administrator; vice-mayor and the sangguniang bayan; accounting; budget; assessor; planning and development; treasurer; and disaster risk reduction and management.

Also audited were the departments of engineering, agriculture, civil registry, health, social welfare and development; and gender and development.

The services of Pilar health office were also scrutinized by the ISO auditors, Reyes said.

Pilar is expected to receive cash incentive from Sorsogon province.

Pilar, a first class municipality, is the second town in Sorsogon to be ISO-certified, after Castilla.
