PNP Catanduanes props up arsenal, fleet

VIRAC, Catanduanes --- The Catanduanes Police Provincial Office (CPPO) received on Monday, May 22 over P3.5-million worth of firearms and vehicles from Philippine National Police (PNP) Headquarters.


The turnover coincided with the command visit of PNP Regional Director PBGen. Westrimundo Obinque of Bicol Police Regional Office (PRO5) who was given arrival honor by CPPO Provincial Director PCol Benjamin B. Balingbing Jr.


CPPO received two units of light machine gun, 59 units of Galil Ace rifle, 16 units of tactical vests, 15 units of enhanced combat helmet, around 10,000 rounds of bullets, 5 units Honda 150cc motorcycle and 10 units desktop computers and printers.


Prior to this, CPPO received a police utility truck amounting to P4.9 million from the Provincial Government of Catanduanes.


The turnover was part of the modernization efforts to further improve PNP personnel and ensure faster mobilization.


In his message, PBGen Obinque expressed gratitude to the members of PNP for their unwavering commitment and dedication to the service and for helping PNP redeem the image of the police organization.


He encouraged the police force to remain faithful and true to the organization’s goals and objectives despite the numerous allegations that are being thrown to PNP as well as the many other challenges that they are facing.


During the activity, police officers who showed exemplary performance were also given recognition. (PIA5/Catanduanes)
