PNP seizes P10-M worth of drugs in CNorte

LEGAZPI CITY --- Anti-drug operatives of the Police Regional Office 5 seized more than 1,500 grams of illegal drugs worth ₱10.2 million in a buy-bust operation in Barangay Lag-on, Daet, Camarines Norte at around 12:04 p.m. on Saturday.
Police Lt. Col. Maria Luisa “Malu” Calubaquib, spokesperson of PNP Bicol, said the buy-bust operation was conducted through the coordinated efforts of the Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit (PDEU), Provincial Intelligence Unit (PIU), and Daet Municipal Police Station under the Camarines Norte Police Provincial Office. The operation led to the arrest of a 31-year-old suspect from Naga City.
The suspect was immediately placed under police custody following the recovery of the illegal drugs and other pieces of evidence.
“A high-impact anti-drug operation conducted at around 12:04 p.m. on November 22, 2025, in Barangay Lag-on, Daet, Camarines Norte resulted in the confiscation of more than 1,500 grams of suspected shabu with an estimated standard drug price of ₱10,200,000,” Calubaquib said.
She added that appropriate charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 are now being prepared against the arrested suspect.
PNP Bicol Regional Director Police Brig. Gen. Nestor C. Babagay Jr. commended the operating units for their efforts, which led to the disruption of a major illegal drug transaction in Camarines Norte.
“This accomplishment sends a clear message to all drug personalities: PRO5 will not hesitate, will not slow down, and will not allow illegal drugs to proliferate in our communities. Our operatives remain relentless, and this operation is proof of our unwavering resolve,” Babagay said.
He emphasized that the major accomplishment forms part of the Enhanced Managing Police Operations (EMPO) and aligns with the anti-illegal drug and anti-criminality agenda of Acting PNP Chief Lt. Gen. Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr.
Babagay also ordered a thorough investigation to identify other individuals or networks connected to the arrested suspect, ensuring that all responsible parties are held accountable.
He reaffirmed PRO5’s firm and uncompromising stance against illegal drugs, vowing to sustain decisive operations to protect communities and uphold public safety.
