PNP sponsors mental health seminar for its police officers

VIRAC, Catanduanes --- A total of 120 Senior Police Officers and non-uniformed personnel attended a ‘mental health seminar’ sponsored by Philippine National Police (PNP) Catanduanes Police Provincial Office (CATPPO) on September 20, 2023 at Camp Francisco Camacho, Virac, Catanduanes.


According to Catanduanes PNP Provincial Director Benjamin Balingbing Jr., the activity is part of the continuing Psychological Counselling Program for CATPPO personnel in cooperation with the Provincial Advisory Group for Police Transformation and Development.


Dr. Robert John Aquino, Department of Health Catanduanes Provincial Officer and Rev. Fr. Raymund Fajardo, Immaculate Conception Seminary Academy rector served as the resource speakers who discussed medical and spiritual topics which aims to increase awareness of police personnel regarding mental health.


Meanwhile, Catanduanes PNP conducted seminar on media access to police reports on Sept. 11 at Heroes Hall Camp Francisco Camacho.


The seminar aims to ensure that the public receives legitimate and verified information and to make sure that the media and police force have the right coordination and maintain good police-media relation.


Among the topics discussed were: Data Privacy Law, Photo Journalism, PNP Memorandum Circular on Police Blotter and Crime Information, Reporting and Analysis System (CIRAS) Information Access and Media Policy on Releasing Information.


The event was attended by the police chiefs of 11 municipalities in Catanduanes and the members of the media. (PIA5/Catanduanes)
