3 arrested in Ragay for illegal fishing
RAGAY, Camarines Sur --- Three fishermen were arrested in an anti-illegal fishing operation conducted by the Ragay Municipal Police Station (MPS) in the early hours of March 3, 2025, at Zone 7, Barangay Cale.
Authorities identified the suspects as Romnick Resorez, 32, a resident of Zone 4, Barangay Liboro; Roger Alano, 47; and Rommel Alano, 42, both residents of Zone 7, Barangay Apad.
The three were caught in the act of engaging in illegal fishing activities using a compressor, a violation of Republic Act 10564.
Police confiscated one compressor unit and approximately 150 meters of compressor hose from the suspects who were informed of their constitutional rights and are now under the custody of Ragay MPS, along with the seized items, for proper disposition.
Authorities continue to intensify operations against illegal fishing to protect marine resources and ensure sustainable fishing practices in the province.
PMFC unearths armed cache in Lagonoy town
LAGONOY, Camarines Sur --- In line with the Philippine National Police commitment to ensuring public safety and security under the tagline “Sa Bagong Pilipinas, ang Gusto ng Pulis, Ligtas Ka!”, the Camarines Sur Police Provincial Office (CSPPO) successfully conducted an intelligence-driven operation that led to the discovery of an armed cache in Brgy. Agosais, Lagonoy, on March 4, 2025.

Under the leadership of Provincial Director PCOL Virgilio O. Olalia Jr., a joint inter-agency operation was carried out by the Camarines Sur 2nd Provincial Mobile Force Company, the 83rd Infantry Battalion of the Philippine Army, COLT3, the Provincial Intelligence Unit of CSPPO, and the Lagonoy Municipal Police Station.
At approximately 9:59 AM, authorities discovered and recovered an improvised explosive device (IED) made of PVC material and 52 pieces of steel M16 magazines. The seized items were immediately turned over to the 2nd PMFC for proper documentation and disposal.
The operation highlights the intensified efforts of the PNP and its partner agencies in maintaining peace and order in Camarines Sur, preventing potential threats, and ensuring the safety of local communities.
Authorities continue to urge the public to report any suspicious activities to law enforcement agencies to further strengthen security measures across the province.
Suspect nabbed in Tigaon buy-bust opn
TIGAON, Camarines Sur --- A 29-year-old man was arrested in a buy-bust operation conducted by the Tigaon Municipal Police Station (MPS) and allied law enforcement units on the evening of March 3, 2025.
At around 9:24 PM, police personnel from Tigaon MPS, in coordination with the Camarines Sur Provincial Police Drug Enforcement Unit (PPDEU), the 501st Regional Mobile Force Battalion 5 (RMFB 5), and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-Regional Office V (PDEA ROV), carried out the anti-illegal drug operation at Zone 6, Barangay Casuna.
The suspect, identified as Niel Vergara y Palero, alias “Nelnel,” a resident of Sitio Gogon, Barangay Caraycayon, was apprehended after selling a heat-sealed transparent plastic sachet containing suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride, commonly known as “shabu,” to a police poseur-buyer with the assistance of a confidential informant.
During a body search, authorities recovered five additional heat-sealed plastic sachets containing suspected shabu, along with a marked ₱500 bill (Serial No. AN812128) used in the transaction.
The suspect was informed of his constitutional rights and is now in the custody of Tigaon MPS for proper disposition. Charges for violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, are being prepared against him.
