IN line with the Philippine National Police’s tagline “Sa Bagong Pilipinas, ang Gusto ng Pulis, Ligtas ka!” the Camarines Sur Police Provincial Office (CSPPO), under the leadership of Provincial Director Police Col. Virgilio O. Olalia Jr., has intensified its campaign for peace, safety, and public security across the province.
Through coordinated actions by its municipal and city police stations and the Provincial Mobile Force Company (PMFC), several operations and responses were conducted in the past days, resulting in significant arrests and law enforcement actions. Below are some of the notable incidents:
Rape suspect arrested in Batangas
AFTER nearly a decade in hiding, a suspect facing charges of rape and child abuse was arrested by joint operatives of Tigaon MPS and Sto. Tomas Component City Police Station at around 6:40 PM on April 7, 2025 in Lumina Homes, Brgy. San Vicente, Sto. Tomas City.
The accused, identified as Norberto Ceron Abedes Sr., 44, a welder originally from Quezon City, was arrested based on two warrants issued by Judge Noel D. Paulite of RTC Branch 30, San Jose, Camarines Sur. One was for rape (Criminal Case No. T-4489) with no bail recommended, and the other for violation of RA 7610 or the Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, with bail set at P120,000.
Wanted person arrested in Quezon City
IN a joint operation conducted at 2:00 PM on April 8, 2025, law enforcers from Balatan Municipal Police Station (MPS) and the Manila District Anti-Cybercrime Team (MDACT) arrested Rey Angelo Guanzon Esperidion, alias “Tong-tong,” at 317 Kalapati Street, Novaliches. The suspect is wanted for violations of Republic Act 9262 (Anti-Violence Against Women and Their Children Act) and RA 9995 (Anti-Photo and Video Voyeurism Act of 2009).
Esperidion’s arrest was made based on two warrants issued by Iriga City courts. The first was for violation of RA 9262, issued by Judge Rima Orbon Ortega of Branch 7, Family Court, with a bail set at Php 72,000. The second was for RA 9995, issued by Judge Maria Clarissa Lianko Pacis of Branch 36, RTC, with a bail of Php 42,000.
Tricycle driver nabbed in Tigaon
AUTHORITIES arrested a 30-year-old tricycle driver for illegal gambling during an operation launched by the Tigaon MPS at around 2:00 PM on April 8, 2025 in Zone 6, Brgy. San Rafael.
The suspect, identified as Gerald Jarabay y Benavides, was caught in the act playing “Cara y Cruz,” a coin-tossing gambling game. Three other individuals involved in the game, identified as John Estrella y Cater (alias “Barok”), Jerry Briguel y Cas, and Albert Paulite y Lucero, managed to flee the scene.
Confiscated during the operation were P719.00 in cash and three one-peso coins used in the game. Jarabay was apprised of his rights and brought to Tigaon MPS for proper disposition.
Robbery suspect caught in the act
A robbery suspect was caught red-handed at around 4:09 AM on April 8, 2025, at Zone 5, Brgy. Sta. Justina, after a concerned citizen alerted the Buhi MPS about suspicious activity at the residence of Vicente Monte.
Responding officers arrested Adrian Malate y Mison, 18, of Sta. Lucia, Nabua, Camarines Sur, who was seen destroying a coin-operated Wi-Fi vending machine and stealing coins amounting to Php 349.00.
The suspect is currently in police custody and has been informed of his constitutional rights as part of standard operating procedure.
College student dies in Tigaon
A 20-year-old college student was declared dead on arrival at Tigaon Primary Hospital in the early hours of April 6, 2025. The student, Joseph Villegas y Deleña, a 3rd year student of Partido College, reportedly died while at the residence of Mr. Glenn B. Badiola, OSA Director and ROTC Coordinator of the same institution.
Villegas’ parents appeared at the Tigaon MPS to file a statement, claiming their son was brought to the hospital by Badiola. The initial diagnosis by attending physician Dr. Atanacio cited possible causes as myocardial infarction, aspiration, and alcohol poisoning.
Police have launched a follow-up investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the student’s death.
