By Connie Calipay
LEGAZPI CITY --- The Philippine National Railways (PNR) conducted Thursday a safety information drive for over 200 members of the Tricycle Operators and Drivers Association (TODA) in Naga City, Camarines Sur, and Legazpi City, Albay province.
In a media release on Friday, PNR said the Safety Campaign aimed to raise public awareness about railway safety.
During the event, informative briefings educated attendees on essential railway safety practices.
They also received “PNR Safety Kits” as valuable reminders to adhere to the safety principle of “Stop, Look, and Listen” when crossing railway level crossings.
Lawyer Celeste Lauta, PNR Assistant General Manager and Safety Campaign Chairperson, acknowledged TODA’s crucial support in promoting railway safety.
She emphasized the importance of patience, urging drivers to wait for trains to pass before crossing at designated railway crossings, ensuring the safety of themselves and their passengers.
Lauta added that the initiative is part of the ongoing PNR Safety Campaign, which aims to reduce railway accidents, enhance public awareness about railway safety, and improve the quality of PNR services across the Bicol region.
The “PNR Railway Summit: Tracks to Safety” in Naga City would be held on Jan. 21. (PNA)
