Police arrest woman selling Covid drugs

Police operatives nabbed on Friday, July 23, a person selling anti Covid-19 drugs in an entrapment operation in a commercial building in Naga City, a police report said.


Major Maria Luisa Calubaquib, Bicol police spokesperson, identified the suspect as Cecilia Catacutan of Barangay Concepcion Pequeña who was a subject of a surveillance operation for selling Covid-29 drugs without a doctor’s prescription.


The report said the suspect was caught while selling Ivermectin and Lianhua medicines worth P16,000 to an undercover agent inside the administrative office of the Centro Square Building in Barangay San Francisco at around 12:05 PM.


The suspect who was an unlicensed pharmaceutical sales representative did not resist arrest. Police agents recovered from her 20 boxes containing Lianhua medicines and 200 capsules of Ivermectin.


Police investigators said the suspect was reportedly selling the Covid-19 medicines on-line and over the counter.


The confiscated medicines were brought to the Department of Health (DOH) Food and Drug Authority (FDA) in Naga City for evaluation whether the medicines were authentic and with FDA Compassionate Special Permit.
