A teacher who was arrested the other day for murder was also one of the individuals included in the complaint filed before the Masbate City Prosecutor’s Office for the killing of football player Keith Absalon and his cousin Nolven last June 6, this year, a police report said.

In an official statement issued by Police Regional Office 5, it said that Mariel Suson,22, was already charged with two counts of murder, frustrated murder and other charges for the killing of Absalon,22, and his cousin Nolven,40, last June 6 while they were riding their bicycles.

The statement also confirmed that Suson was a teacher in Kabungahan Elementary School in Cawayan, Masbate.

Suson was arrested by virtue of an arrest warrant issued by Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 45 Judge Arnelo Mesa for the killing of Renerio Villamor last April 22 in Masbate City. She was charged together with eight more members of the New People’s Army (NPA).

PRO5 said that Suson is a daughter of Rogelio Suson alias Manong/Julio, the secretary of the New People’s Army (NPA) Larangan 2 of the underground communist movement Bicol Regional Party Committee.

Suson was detained at the Masbate City jail for temporary custody.

The communist movement had already admitted the killing even as it promised to punish their members who committed the crime.

Absalon’s family has been crying for justice for the killing of their 22-year-old son and his cousin.

Meanwhile the Department of Education in Bicol has denied that Suson is a DepEd teacher.

Nene Merioles, Schools Division Superintendent of DepEd-Masbate City, clarified that Suson was not their teacher.

“This office wants to clarify that the person arrested (Mariel Suson) is an applicant for a teaching position in our Division and was able to submit the required application documents. However, she was not yet able to pass our hiring process and thus she is not actually a teacher of our Division nor a DepEd employee,” Merioles posted in their Facebook page.
