After several months of surveillance, a notorious drug suspect operating in Bicol and Calabarzon regions fell into the hands of authorities during a buy-bust operation in Barangay Holy Spirit, Quezon City on Sunday (May 30) afternoon.

In an interview on Monday, May 31, Maj. Malu Calubaquib, Police Regional Office-Bicol spokesperson, said a joint operation conducted by PRO-5 and the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) policemen resulted in the arrest of Khalid Sana Guiabal alias “Leds,” and seizure of some P3.4-million shabu.

She said based on surveillance, Guiabal had been getting his drug supply from Metro Manila and distributes the illegal substance in the Bicol and Southern Tagalog areas.

After intelligence gathering, PRO-5 operatives teamed up with their counterparts from the QCPD to arrest the suspect as he tried to sell shabu to undercover law enforcers.

“During the operation, a poseur buyer was able to procure from the subject person one medium heat-sealed transparent plastic containing suspected shabu weighing MOL (more or less) 50 grams, which resulted in his immediate arrest. Recovered from his possession and control is 21 pcs of assorted size heat-sealed transparent plastic sachet believed to be shabu with a total weight of MOL 590 grams,” Calubaquib said.

Brig. Gen. Jonnel Estomo, PRO-5 regional director, lauded the efforts of the joint operating team as he cited the police’s relentless campaign to curb the proliferation of illegal drugs in the region amidst the threat of Covid-19.
