Police still facing blank wall in Nabua shooting incident

NABUA, Camarines Sur --- The police are still facing a blank wall in the death of a man who was shot by an unidentified assailant in Zone 7, Brgy. San Vicente Ogbon, Nabua, Camarines Sur, on the evening of June 2, 2025.
According to Police Capt. Liza Jane Alteza of the Police Community Affairs and Development (PICAD), a concerned citizen—reportedly a student—called the Nabua Municipal Police Station (MPS) around 6:15 PM to report the presence of a bloodied man lying face down on the spillway in the said barangay.
Responding officers, led by PSSg Marc V. Mariano and PCpl Edmer L. Talavera, the designated Investigators-on-Case, immediately proceeded to the area to verify the report and conduct an investigation.
The victim was later identified as “Melvin,” of legal age, married, unemployed, and a resident of Nabua.
At the scene, police recovered an empty shell of a .45 caliber firearm and one misfired hollow-point ammunition of the same caliber. The Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO) team was requested to assist in processing the scene and the area.
As of this writing, police have yet to establish the identity of the gunman or determine the motive behind the killing. Investigation is ongoing.
