It has been a month since the Holy Father, Pope Francis, was confined at the Gemelli Hospital in Rome for a complicated case of Pneumonia. But on Monday, March 10, medical doctors attending to Pope Francis “have lifted their guarded prognosis”, given the stability of his current condition and improvements seen in blood tests and physical examination. In addition, doctors have said that Pope Francis has a “good response to pharmacological therapy”.

However, given the complexity of his condition and initial clinical presentation upon hospitalization last February 14, the Holy Father still needs to be monitored in a hospital setting, where he will continue his respiratory physiotherapy and pharmacologic treatment. He still receives high-flow oxygen therapy throughout the day.

Since the last medical bulletin issued by the Vatican Press Office, Pope Francis continues to be clinically stable. He joins the Spiritual Exercises of the Curia daily through a video link, and spends his day in prayer and rest. (Natalie Hazel Quimlat)
