Pope Francis health update

The Holy Father, Pope Francis, made his first public appearance last Sunday, March 23, after being confined at the Gemelli Hospital since February 14. Pope Francis was also discharged that day and is currently recuperating in his residence at Casa Santa Marta, where he continues to receive medical care and therapy. In the press conference held prior to his hospital discharge, attending doctors said that rest period at his residence is estimated to be for another 2 months. Dr. Luigi Carbone serves as the Holy Father’s personal physician while Dr. Sergio Alfieri was the lead physician during the Pope’s hospitalization in Gemelli. The two aforementioned doctors were witnesses as well to the Holy Father’s request to inform him and the Church at large of his medical condition. “Nothing was altered or withheld,” Alfieri said.
