LEGAZPI CITY --- Albay Governor Noel Rosal reaffirmed his commitment to the Philippine National Police during a ceremony concluding National Crime Prevention Week at Camp Simeon A. Ola in Legazpi City.

In his keynote address, Rosal emphasized the importance of strengthening the partnership between the Albay provincial government and law enforcement agencies to support crime prevention initiatives.

He stressed that investing in peace and order is essential to achieving this goal.

Rosal highlighted the anti-drug campaign as a key focus area, noting that the government invests in livelihood programs to help persons who use drugs (PWUDs) reintegrate into society.

He also mentioned government initiatives aimed at combating crime in the province, particularly through empowering the youth and improving educational opportunities.

Additionally, Rosal announced that the provincial government will allocate 5 million pesos to enhance health programs across Albay.

In his remarks, he stated that crime prevention is not solely the responsibility of law enforcement agencies and the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG); rather, it is a shared responsibility that involves everyone.

The governor commended the efforts and initiatives of the PNP, government partners, and civic organizations in their fight against crime, which is vital for ensuring a safe community.

“The LGU, PNP, and other government agencies could work together with one common goal that President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. told me about: We must keep the Bagong Pilipinas in mind, take it to heart and put it into practice,” Rosal said.

This year’s theme for National Crime Prevention Week (NCPW) is “Pinalakas na Pamahalaang Lokal para sa Ligtas na Pamayanan: Pagpapatibay ng mga Programa sa Pag-iwas sa Krimen sa Ilalim ng Community and Service-Oriented Policing (CSOP).”

This theme underscores the importance of local government units collaborating with the police and the community to promote safer and more resilient neighborhoods. (PIA Bicol)
