THE Naga City Police Office (NCPO) recorded 38 rape cases in 2024, a significant increase from the 20 cases reported in 2023, according to Police Lt. Col. Erwin Rebellon, city police director.

During a press briefing on Monday, Rebellon disclosed that the youngest victim was a three-year-old child, who has since been placed under the care of the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO).

In a separate interview, Staff Sergeant Roberto Aguillon, NCPO deputy spokesperson, noted that some cases in 2024 were not immediately reported due to victims’ fear of retaliation from their perpetrators. He added that most of the victims were not biologically related to the suspects, all of whom were arrested through warrants.

When asked whether any victims became pregnant due to the assaults, Aguillon stated that such details remain confidential to protect the victims’ privacy.
