The Salient point of the RTL was the FAILED promise that the price of the rice per kilo will be PEGGED at P21 pesos the lowest, making it affordable to the poor. The rice traders were given free hand by the gov’t. MASSIVE importation of rice. Rice is the STAPLE food of our countrymen, it should have been given TOP PRIORITY by the gov’t to enforce SRP or price control amid COVID-19 and the rising cost of living. The most the poor can do is to buy the lowest price of rice and MIXED it with “BINLOD” just to survive.

All public funds lost to corruption could have been used to establish public treatment centers for COVID-19 patients and other diseases. According to WHO, heart disease as the leading cause of death in the Philippines in 2018 with 120,800 deaths. The money could have also been used for vaccines against CCOVID-19, which has already killed more than 12,000 people while this pandemic may not be as deadly as heart disease, it is highly contagious. However, COVID-19 has several vaccines already being made available to boast peoples immunity.
