Rebap’s Silver Jubillee

On October 4, 2022 this writer had the privilege of attending the 25th Founding Anniversary of the Real Estate Brokers Association of the Philippines (REBAP), Naga City and Camarines Sur Chapters at the Emelina Royale. It was indeed a successful and happy event. The affair was graced by no less than Vice-Mayor Nene de Asis representing Mayor Nelson Legacion, who is reportedly on official business in Bangkok, Thailand. Just like other civic organizations, the REBAP has contributed much to the progress of our Pilgrim City of Bicol. Through its initiatives, a lot of business entrepreneurs did not hesitate to invest in Naga by opening its branches here, thus contributing much to the economic growth of the city. In terms of education, schools have likewise opened up new courses giving wider career opportunities to our students, the Naga College Foundation being among such schools. As an organization of realtors, the REBAP has organized chapters in other parts of the Bicol Region- in Masbate and Legaspi, and they are looking forward to organizing one in Daet. I am proud that my spouse Minda is the Founding President of REBAP.

In other matters, the reported controversy in the demolition of alleged illegal settlers at the Fernandez compound in Puro Sta. Cruz is unfortunate, The settlers have allegedly barricaded the compound in the attempt to prevent the Court’s Sheriff from performing his function as ordered by the Court. While I was in pre-law at the Ateneo de Naga University years back, I lived in Puro Sta. Cruz at the Gomez residence, which was then rented by my parents. I have beautiful memories of the place, and in fact some of my friends are still living there. From a legal standpoint, the demolition can still be averted by way of a Court order commanding the sheriff to defer the demolition, to prevent injuries to persons,
