The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) Bicol has announced that all shellfish monitoring areas in the region have tested negative for paralytic shellfish poison (PSP), commonly known as red tide toxin, based on Shellfish Bulletin No. 17, Series of 2026, issued on July 13, 2026.

The following monitoring areas were confirmed to be negative for red tide:

• Milagros, Masbate

• Sorsogon Bay

• Juag Lagoon in Matnog, Sorsogon

• Mandaon, Masbate

With all monitored coastal waters declared free from harmful levels of red tide toxin, shellfish harvested from these areas are considered safe for human consumption, subject to existing food safety and sanitation practices.

BFAR Bicol, however, continues to advise the public, fisherfolk, and seafood traders to remain vigilant and to monitor future shellfish bulletins, as red tide conditions may change depending on environmental factors.

For the latest updates and advisories, follow the official announcements of BFAR Bicol.
