Registration of 8,587 Naga voters to get Comelec approval
By Paulo DS. Papa
The Election Registration Board (ERB) of the Commission on Elections (Comelec) will officially approve the registration of 8,587 more voters in Naga City on Oct. 18.
From July 1 to Sept. 30 this year, Comelec registered 8,587 people in Naga City, which number will be added to the city’s total voters' population of 106,664 as of Jun. 30, 2021.
Lawyer Maico Julia Jr., Comelec Naga head, told Bicol Mail that the additional 8,587 voters are composed of first timers, voters who transferred their registration to the city, and those who renewed their voter's registration.
Despite this development, the ERB during the Oct. 18 hearing, is expected to remove from the list of voters those who transferred to other places and voters who are already dead based on the records of the local civil registrar.
As this develops, Julia said that Comelec would continue the voter’s registration in one of the malls in the city.
